Deron Williams Sidelined With Strained Calf

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey Nets and Houston Rockets were without their starting point guards for their matchup Saturday night.

The Nets' Deron Williams was sidelined for the second time this season after straining his right calf in Friday night's win at Charlotte. New Jersey coach Avery Johnson said Williams, who is averaging a team-best 22 points and 8.1 assists, is listed as day-to-day and will be re-evaluated on Monday.

The Rockets' Kyle Lowry checked himself into a New York-area hospital with a high fever and was expected to miss the remainder of the Rockets' roadt rip that concludes at Oklahoma City on Tuesday.

Lowry is averaging 15.9 points and 7.2 assists for the Rockets, who are clinging to the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference despite a five-game losing streak.
