Deron Williams: '90 Percent' Chance I Stay With Nets
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Deron Williams is going to opt out of his contract with New Jersey after the 2011-12 season.
That much we know.
But will he be "Bound for Brooklyn" with the franchise once the dust in free agency settles? It sounds like he's leaning that way.
Williams told WFAN's Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts on Monday that there's a "90 percent" chance he re-signs with the Nets.
"My plan is to stay," Williams said. "I think we're gonna get players. I think guys are gonna want to come play in Brooklyn and play with me."

Guys like, say, Dwight Howard? The Nets have been recently linked to the All-Star center and Williams hasn't been shy about his desire to play around other big-name stars.
"If you're a point guard and you can play with Dwight Howard and you decide to leave," said Williams, "you're not very smart."
According to the new CBA, Williams would only earn around $70 million over four years if he signs an extension with the Nets. If he becomes a free agent and re-signs with the franchise? Roughly $101 million over five years.
Scenario three: Williams signs elsewhere for four years and $73 million.
"Financially, it makes sense for me to opt out," he said. "It has nothing to do with the Nets. Like I said, I love the organization, the organization is great. My preference would be to stay here."
Benigno had to know... if not the Nets in free agency, how about the Knicks?
"That would be very unlikely," the point guard admitted.
What about making the playoffs in 2012, would that convince Williams to stay with the Nets?
"It would help," he said. "It would definitely help. But I've been to the playoffs. You know, I want to compete for a championship."
The 27-year-old isn't just looking for a quick buck. He surely doesn't want to bounce around seeking an NBA title. Wherever Williams signs, be it with the Nets or another franchise, that's where he'll want to finish his career.
"No disrespect to Jersey but once they move to Brooklyn, that's gonna be a whole 'nother breed," said Williams. "I look forward to that opportunity."
