Derailment Repair Causes More Delays On LIRR Ronkonkoma Line
RONKONKOMA, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) - Some Long Island Rail Road riders can expect a tough commute Wednesday after rail officials discovered problems on the Ronkonkoma line.
The railroad tells Newsday extensive damage to its train communications system was uncovered Tuesday after a freight car that had derailed Sunday was removed.
It says delays of up to 25 minutes on the Ronkonkoma line east of Hicksville are expected, WCBS 880's Long Island Bureau Chief Mike Xirinachs reported.

Spokesman Salvatore Arena says that's because parts of the signal system have to be built "from scratch.''
He says the extent of the problem didn't become clear until the derailed cars were removed.
The railroad say for certain when service will be restored.
"I'm dealing with it, I get to work when I can," one commuter said.
The freight car carrying lumber derailed around midnight Sunday just west of the Wyandanch station. The freight carrier leases LIRR tracks that run parallel to the commuter tracks.
