De Blasio: Help Available To Those Who Lost Work To Superstorm Sandy
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Those who lost wages or business during Superstorm Sandy can expect help, New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio said Sunday.
De Blasio went door-to-door in Howard Beach, Queens, Sunday to help businesses recover from damage and lost revenue inflicted by Sandy.
His team has been providing assistance to businesses with insurance, aid from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, loans, and worker compensation.
"We're trying to make sure folks get lost wages, they get lost income, they get help from the Small Business Administration to get some money in their pockets to get up and running, they get help getting their electricity back on – we're working on all those fronts," de Blasio told 1010 WINS.
In Queens Sunday, de Blasio distributed information on restoring electricity to buildings damaged by flooding, claiming lost wages and revenue via FEMA, reporting price gouging by contractors, filing insurance claims, and contesting unfair compensation.
