Mayor De Blasio Set To Hold First Town Hall Meeting Of His Term
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork/AP) -- For the first time since taking office nearly two years ago, Mayor Bill de Blasio will hold his first official town hall meeting this week.
A spokesman for the mayor said tickets to Wednesday evening's event are being distributed by local community groups. About 250 people are expected to attend.
The hour-long town hall will take place in Washington Heights, where tenant issues and a recent rent-freeze for rent-stabilized apartments are expected to take the forefront.
The area around Washington Heights and Inwood has 53,500 rent-stabilized apartments -- the most in New York City.
De Blasio has been criticized for not holding town halls like his predecessors.
