New York State Assemblyman David Gantt Dies At Age 78
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- New York State Assemblyman David Gantt has died.
Gantt represented parts of the city of Rochester and the town of Gates since 1983.
A civil rights pioneer, Gantt became the first Black man to be elected to state office in Monroe County.
He announced this year that he would not seek re-election.
He had reportedly been dealing with health issues for some time.
Gantt was 78 years old.
