Darrelle Revis Still Prefers Winless Bucs' Cash Over Rex, Jets
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Former New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis apparently has no regrets about cashing in with Tampa Bay.
Revis says on Twitter that he's happy enough making $16 million per year with the winless Buccaneers compared to the alternative.
"Back in the good old days when @Revis24 played for a team that mattered. Wonder if 12MM per and Rex as coach has any merit vs Schaino (sic) & 16MM," a Jets fan from Jersey City, N.J. tweeted early Monday.
That prompted Revis to respond: "naw 16 is better."
The Bucs have gone 0-8 since trading for the All-Pro and signing him to a six-year contract. Head coach Greg Schiano, who will be lucky if he makes it to January, reportedly isn't too popular in the locker room -- and that may be an understatement. Oh, and they blew a 21-point lead to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
On the flip side, the Jets are 5-4 under player's coach Rex Ryan. Their fans are starting to think playoffs coming off a huge win over the first-place New Orleans Saints. Not too shabby.
The responses to Revis were, well, about what you'd expect.
"Wow Revis You're only looking for money arent you?" one person tweeted.
Another wrote: "Wow.. enjoy 0-8 pal."
