Revis On 'Deflategate': Patriots 'Have A History Of Doing Stuff'
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Yeah, he went there.
Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis, who played just one season for the Patriots -- and helped them win Super Bowl XLIX -- was asked about "Deflategate," and he was brutally honest about his former team and its star quarterback.
"Everybody's blowing (Deflategate) up because it is Tom Brady," Revis told the New York Daily News. "I understand that. But if (the NFL) feels he did the crime or he did something and they want to penalize them, then that's that. (The Patriots) have a history of doing stuff. You can't hide that ... Tom was there when they did that stuff in the past.
"... Stuff repeatedly happened through the years. You got 'Spygate,' you got this and that and everything else."
Brady was suspended for the first four games of the 2015 season for his role in Deflategate. The Patriots were fined $1 million and were stripped of their first-round pick in 2016 and fourth-round pick in 2017.
This week, Patriots owner Robert Kraft announced that he will not appeal the league's punishment against his organization.
The NFL Players Association, however, is still appealing Brady's suspension.
Revis, a six-time Pro Bowler, was drafted by the Jets in the first round in 2007 and played with them until 2012. He signed a five-year, $70 million contract ($39 million guaranteed) with his former team on March 10.
