Dads, Youngsters Spend Father's Day Out In The Sun
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- It was a day to remember for dads everywhere Sunday – as they had their day in the spotlight.
And as CBS 2's Scott Rapoport reported, Tri-State Area dads had a day in the sun, too, thanks to Mother Nature.
John Creasy was in a Central Park playground with his young daughter in Central Park.
"It's fun to have a beautiful day and be with family," Creasy said.
Sunshine, swings and sweetness were on the agenda for the dads, sharing tender moments with their little ones.
"You don't get too many moments like this," one dad said.
And at times, it was hard to tell who was having more fun – father or son.
"I think we're both having a lot of fun, thanks," said Rick Sevak of the Upper East Side as he pushed his young son on the swings.
And it is always a great day for the kids when they get to hang out with Dad. Just ask them.
One little girl called her dad "awesome," while a boy called his dad "fun." And for whatever reason, another little girl called her dad "spicy."
And what is it that makes dad so awesome?
"Because he plays sports with me," one boy said.
"He takes care of me," a girl said.
And dads will tell you it's days like this that mean the most to them – especially one dad named Jason.
"It's a special day for me. We just found out we are going to have a third one -- triple Father's Day," he said.
According to one recent calculation, there are slightly more than 70 million fathers from coast to coast.
