DA: Queens Man Pleads Guilty To Identity Theft Scam
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - A South Ozone Park man who portrayed himself as a Harvard graduate with plans to open a medical facility has pleaded guilty to identity theft, the Queens District Attorney's office announced Wednesday.
DA Richard Brown said Delloyd "Tom" Hill compromised the personal information of six doctors and others.
Hill, 50, claimed to be interviewing for positions at the facility and was seeking investors, according to the DA's office.
By stealing the identities of eight individuals, Hill was able to open credit lines in the hundreds of thousands of dollars, Brown said.
From April to September of this year, Hill was able to secure three lines of credit, according to the DA's office. Hill also asked his landlord and another individual to invest, taking a total of $65,000 from them.
Hill will face a sentence of two to four years when he's sentenced on Jan. 8.
