The Nassau County district attorney said there was a lengthy investigation before the 38-year-old was arrested.
"This defendant was a predator rather than a protector. He violated his oath and the public trust, and my office will ensure he pays the price for these very serious crimes," said Kathleen Rice in a statement.
Investigators found more than a half-ounce of Oxycodone in Jones's vehicle at the time of his arrest, Rice said.
Jones has been with the Hempstead Police Department since 2002.
He has been suspended from the force without pay. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
