Cyclones Offer Aguilera Shot At National Anthem Do-Over
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) — Christina Aguilera has been invited to sing a do-over.
The Brooklyn Cyclones are offering the Staten Island native a chance to perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" before one of the minor league baseball team's home games this summer.
Aguilera botched one of the lines of the national anthem before Sunday's Super Bowl in Arlington, Texas. The New York Mets' Class A farm team extended the invitation Tuesday.
When Aguilera was supposed to sing the line "O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming," she instead repeated an earlier line, with a slight variation.
Cyclones general manager Steve Cohen said in a statement that "when a player makes a mistake, they usually don't get a shot at redemption, but with a singer, that's a different story."

She's not the first person to mess up the lines of "The Star-Spangled Banner." In 2001, Macy Gray was famously booed for her off-kilter rendition of the national anthem.
She garbled the words at the Pro Football Hall of Fame exhibition game in Canton, Ohio, her home state. She later told The Associated Press: "That was definitely life's most embarrassing moment."
