Gov. Cuomo Signs Bill Cutting Red Tape For Superstorm Sandy Victims
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- Gov. Andrew Cuomo was in Breezy Point, Queens Friday to sign legislation aimed at helping victims of Superstorm Sandy.
As WCBS 880's Ginny Kosola reported, Breezy Point was hit hard by Sandy and is still in the process of rebuilding.

"I would love to be able to say to you that Sandy was one in a million and it's never going to happen again. The problem is, I don't believe that," Cuomo said.
The legislation signed by the governor will help homeowners to rebuild by bypassing red tape for the next two years, Kosola reported.
But Cuomo is also looking to the future. During the bill signing, he announced New York Rising will conduct a study on raising homes in Breezy Point.
"Let's study what it would take to actually elevate the homes to a point where if this happens again, we don't have the same type of damage," Cuomo said.
The governor added that he has had more emergency declarations in his four years in office than his father had in his 12 years as governor.
