CT's Millstone Nuclear Power Plant Says New Tax Would Be Too Much
HARTFORD, CT (WCBS 880) - The owner of the Millstone nuclear power plants in Waterford, Connecticut says they could not continue to operate if the state imposes the new power generation tax.

Dominion, the company that owns the two plants, says the tax would cost $330 million a year.
"We're in the business to make money. If this tax would remove that profit for us, then it would make no sense to operate the units," says spokesman Ken Holt says. "The burden that's gonna be placed on Dominion is going to make Millstone not viable economically."
But State Senator John Fonfara, co-chair of the energy committee, disagrees.
"Dominion has done very well under the current regime since we deregulated," says Fonfara. "When we look at their annual report, we believe that they will continue to do very well even if the full breadth of this tax were imposed."
