Cowboys Stand Behind Owner Jerry Jones After 'Beat The Giants' A—' Boast

NEW YORK (WFAN) -- Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may not have won over many fans in New York, especially after his "watch us beat the New York Giants' a—" proclamation this week.

But the 69-year-old has plenty of support from his team.

"I know we're standing here today," Jones said to fans in attendance at training camp Monday, "but we want you to come to (Cowboys Stadium) and watch us beat the New York Giants' a—, OK?"

"That's what he said? I like it," said cornerback Brandon Carr, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "I'm right with him. We all feel the same way. You've got to go into each game thinking you're going to dominate the opposing team."

Jones made the headline-grabbing comment during a "civic event" on Monday — complete with skydivers and, of course, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders — as his team opened camp in California.

"What's he supposed to say?" asked linebacker Victor Butler. "He's got a lot of pride in this team. I'm behind him 100 percent."

The Cowboys still haven't found success against the Giants in their new stadium. New York has owned Dallas since early 2008, winning six of eight regular-season games.

Jones may have been taking a cue from one of his former players. New Giants tight end Martellus Bennett said last week he was looking forward to kicking "those guys' a—es."

"Those guys" being the Cowboys.

"Jerry Jones owns this football team," said Dallas coach Jason Garrett. "He has owned it for 23 years, so he can do anything he wants."

The Giants' response? Coach Tom Coughlin prefers to do his talking on the field. That's not always the case with his players, though they were mum on the subject Wednesday.
