Counselor, 16, Accused Of Molesting 6-Year-Old Boys At Tenafly Day Camp
TENAFLY, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A 16-year-old camp counselor stood accused Thursday of molesting three 6-year-old boys at a camp in Tenafly, New Jersey.
On July 28, Tenafly police contacted Bergen County Prosecutor's office special victims' unit detectives with a report that the teenage boy had engaged in inappropriate sexual contact with several 6-year-old male campers, prosecutors said.
The incidents occurred at the Neil Klatskin Day Camp at the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, at 411 E. Clinton Ave. in Tenafly, prosecutors said. They were reported by another camp employee, prosecutors said.
The employee notified supervisors, who called police, prosecutors said.
Every child under the counselor's watch was interviewed, and an investigation resulted in the arrest of the counselor on Tuesday, prosecutors said.
The counselor, whose name has not been released due to his age, was charged with three counts each of sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was released to the custody of his parents, but must wear an electronic monitoring device, prosecutors said.
