Could State Tax Cost Knicks Shot At Carmelo?
NEW YORK (WFAN/AP) -- Carmelo Anthony could scratch the Knicks off his offseason wish-list due to New York State's tax code, notes the New York Post.
Carmelo has reportedly been talking enthusiastically about the Houston Rockets. There's a chance that 'Melo prefers to land in Texas, a state without income tax.
The Post compares Anthony's situation to that of LeBron James:
"James, when he signed with the Heat, chose to play in a state -- Florida -- without a state income tax."
Anthony is due to make about $17 million next season, after which he can opt out.
