Police Seek Suspect In Connection With Pair Of Bank Robberies In Conn.
FAIRFIELD, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Police in Fairfield were investigating a pair of bank robberies that occurred on Thursday afternoon.
At 3:44 p.m. a Bank of America on Kings Highway Cutoff was robbed. Twenty minutes later a man matching the same description but wearing different clothing robbed a Chase Bank on Grasmere Avenue, police said.
The banks are located just minutes apart from each other and are both near exit and entrance ramps for I-95, according authorities.
In both cases the suspect entered the bank, held up a note, and demanded cash.
The man indicated that he was armed but did not brandish a weapon, according to a press release issued by the Fairfield Police Detective Bureau.
After obtaining money the suspect fled on foot and eventually took off in an unknown vehicle, authorities said.
The Fairfield Police Department is investigating a similar series of robberies in New York and New Jersey.
