Cops: Bay Shore Woman Charged In 3 Bank Robberies Following Attempted Heist
DEER PARK, N.Y. (CBSNewYork) -- A Bay Shore woman has been arrested and charged in connection with three Suffolk County bank robberies this year.
Jean Coughlin, 45, was picked up by police around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday after she tried to rob a Chase Bank on Grand Boulevard in Deer Park, according to authorities.
Coughlin allegedly handed the bank teller a handwritten note demanding cash and threatening violence.
The teller handed over cash from the drawer but when Coughlin tried to a leave police said a customer blocked her way and held her until police arrived.
Coughlin was arrested and also charged with two other bank robberies committed in the county earlier this year.
Jesse Steward, 37, the suspected getaway driver in Tuesday's alleged robbery, was also arrested and charged with third degree robbery.
Both suspects were set to be arraigned Wednesday.
