Copa America Centenario Tickets In Demand Across The United States
The Copa America Centenario is in full swing across America. Teams from all over North and South America are competing in the first Copa America to be hosted outside of South America, sparking demand for tickets and, perhaps, a new interest in soccer in the U.S.
Seattle Quarterfinals
The June 16 match featuring USA vs. Ecuador is the first of the quarterfinals and will be played at CenturyLink Field in Seattle, Wash., – home of the Seattle Seahawks. One of the most the most affordable tickets in the Copa (later on you have $81 as the lowest of the quarterfinals), fans can get in for $84 (seats in upper level 318); the match has an overall median price of $159.
By comparison, the Seahawks' home opener in 2016 versus the Dolphins has a get-in price of $237 and a median of $475, while MLB fans looking for a cheaper ticket can attend the Mariners' next home game on June 24 for just $19.
East Rutherford Quarterfinals
East Coast fans of Peru and Colombia can watch the teams face off on June 17 at MetLife Stadium, the shared home of the New York Jets and New York Giants. Peru vs Colombia is more in-demand than either of the resident NFL teams, however, as the match has a get-in of $224 and median price of $350.
The Giants' home opener on Sept. 18 has tickets available for as low as $112 with a median price of $199; Jets fans have it even easier as their home opener on Sept. 11 has a get-in of just $55 and a median price of $150 – less than any Copa quarterfinals match.
Santa Clara Quarterfinals
The remaining two quarterfinal matches will be held on June 18 on opposite ends of the country. Chile squares off against Mexico in what is the overall priciest of the quarterfinal matches. Fans can get into Levi's Stadium for $226 in section 417, while the median ticket price is a whopping $387.
The same seats in section 417 are available for just $86 at the San Francisco 49ers' home opener at Levi's Stadium on Sept. 12. Additionally, the cheapest tickets to Chile vs Mexico would secure a baseball fan ideal seats behind home plate for the San Francisco Giants' next home game on June 24 - $124 for the lower infield.
Foxborough Quarterfinals
Argentina and Venezuela are set to face off at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., where fans can attend for $81 – the lowest get-in price of the quarterfinals – and a median price of $175.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, these prices are significantly lower than the first home game of the season for the New England Patriots, where the cheapest ticket is $213 and the median price is $402. Fans looking for a less expensive option may be interested in seeing the Boston Red Sox host the Mariners on June 19, where the get-in is $47 with a $115 median.
The winners of the quarterfinals will face off in semifinal matches in Chicago and Houston, which currently have a median price of $275 and $248, respectively. The Copa America will culminate in the Final on June 26in East Rutherford, which already has a median price of $695 and will likely continue to rise as the field narrows.
