Contamination, Spoilage Concerns Prompt Recalls From Several Companies
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork/AP) -- Kraft Foods Group Inc. is voluntarily recalling some of its Kraft and Polly-O string cheese because they may spoil and change color before the expiration date on the packages.
The Northfield, Ill., company said Friday that about 735,000 cases of the affected products were shipped to customers in the U.S. They have ``Best When Used By'' dates from Oct. 25 through Feb. 11.
Kraft says it issued the recall after receiving several reports from consumers about cheese going bad. The company has ceased the production and distribution of the affected products and is investigating the problem. The affected products were made in a plant in Campbell, N.Y.
Consumers should not eat the recalled product and should return it for an exchange or refund.

Listeria Concerns Prompt Broccoli, Slaw Recalls
Taylor Farms is recalling broccoli salad and slaw sold across 25 eastern and southern states because they contain ingredients that may be contaminated with Listeria.
Taylor Farms says the packaged food includes ingredients recalled earlier this week by Reser's Fine Foods. The food was sold at deli counters in supermarket chains including Price Chopper, Shaw's, Shoprite, Acme Markets, Stop & Shop and others between Oct. 19 and Oct. 24. Separately, grocers Winn-Dixie and Giant Food say they have removed the items from their stores and are offering customers refunds.
There have been no reports of illnesses.
Reser's has recalled 109,000 cases of refrigerated, ready-to-eat items that were distributed across the U.S. and Canada because they may contain the Listeria monocytogenes bacterium. Listeria can lead to miscarriages in pregnant women and serious illness for those with weakened immune systems.
Milwaukee Based Garden-Fresh Foods Recalls Chicken, Ham
Milwaukee-based Garden-Fresh Foods Inc. is recalling 50 more tons of chicken and ham products over concerns of possible listeria contamination, its third recall in two months.
The latest recall was announced Friday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Officials were concerned the food was possibly contaminated with listeria, which can lead to miscarriages in pregnant women and serious illness for those with weakened immune systems.
There have been no reports of illnesses but a full list of products can be found here.
The products include several varieties of ham and chicken salads, among other things, sold under the Garden-Fresh, Grandpa's, Archer Farms and D'Amico & Sons brand names.
A message left Saturday with the company wasn't immediately returned. Garden-Fresh first recalled more than 9 tons of food on Sept. 25, and recalled an additional 6,700 pounds this month.
