Construction Worker Serenades Crowds At 2nd Avenue Subway Project
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The sounds of jack-hammers at the Second Avenue subway project are anything but soothing.
The same can't be said for the velvety voice of iron worker Gary Russo who is trying to bring some relief to the ears of Upper East Siders.

For the past two weeks he's carted his karaoke kit from his home in Queens to sing some Frank Sinatra and Bobby Darin classics during his 30-minute lunch break.
"We're just trying to give back a little bit," Russo said in a YouTube video.
The crooner stands in front of a sign that reads, "Forget all the noise, traffic and the impact of the 2nd Ave. Subway. Enjoy the music."
Apparently passersby have been doing just that. His versions of "Mack the Knife" and "Sweet Caroline" have stopped traffic.

"He is the best thing that's happened to this," one audience member said. "They couldn't have asked for better public relations."
"It puts a human face on this job that has upset the whole neighborhood," one man said.
Russo can't believe the response he's received.
"It's crazy," Russo told 1010 WINS' Stan Brooks. "I'm overwhelmed."
