Connecticut State Senator Calls For Lowering Of Gasoline Tax

One is a fixed tax of 25 cents a gallon.
The other is a tax which rises with the price of gasoline.
St. Sen. Len Suzio says that if we're going to initiate economic recovery, Connecticut has to cap this gross receipts tax.
It now has consumers paying the highest gas prices in the country.
"We've collected so much more then we anticipated already this year that we actually wound up at the recently ended fiscal year with a surplus, because we collected tens of millions of dollars more of gas taxes that we had budgeted for," Suzio told WCBS 880 Connecticut Bureau Chief Fran Schneidau.
He says that is blatantly unfair to consumers.
Suzio hopes to bring the legislation during a special session that's been penciled in for this fall.
