Conn. School Administrators Say Students Using 'Hump Day' Phrase Are Disruptive
VERNON, Conn. (CBSNewYork) -- Geico's Hump Day commercial has gotten over 15 million hits on YouTube, but the ad has become a little too popular for administrators at one Connecticut middle school.
The commercial features a camel walking through an office and making colleagues declare that it's "Hump Day."
Students at the Vernon Center Middle School have now made the phrase their own.
"Everybody's walking around in the hallways and saying 'It's Hump Day' in that weird voice," student Brooke Lewis said.
The school superintendent said some sixth grade boys started using the phrase so much, teachers said it was disruptive.
Apparently it isn't just happening on Wednesdays, but every day, and teachers just want students to break the habit.
