Residents in Levittown on Wedensday were comforted by that, as they fear what would happen if the current plan to close four of the county's eight precincts went forward.
"As a resident, I'm just hoping that we maintain a level of police coverage and that there's no jump in crime rates. I mean I think that's what every resident in Nassau County is all about," said Robert.
He was reacting to a report that county executive Ed Mangano is considering beefing up man power at the four planned community policing centers, which would replace the four full precincts slated for closure.
One of those centers would be in Levittown.
"Public safety is not really something we should play around with," said Robert.
Negotiations are continuing. The reorganization plan is scheduled to be voted on next Monday.
