Commuters Can Use Smartphones To Buy Tickets After NJ TRANSIT Partners With Google Wallet
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Instead of digging cash out of your wallet to buy train or bus tickets, imagine using your smartphone to just tap and pay.

NJ TRANSIT is the first public transportation agency to partner with Google Wallet which will allow passengers to wirelessly transmit their ticket purchase.
The free mobile app enables wireless data transmission between two objects so customers can wave their phones by a sensor and pay for transit tickets.
The service will be available at Penn Station, Newark Airport and on bus routes 6, 43, 80, 81, 87, and 120, and on some buses on the 126 line.
NJ TRANSIT executive director James Weinstein says emerging technologies will streamline the way customers buy their tickets and enhance their experience.
"We are putting the latest technology to work for our customers and improve the overall customer experience," Weinstein said.
Currently, Google Wallet is available on Sprint's Nexus S 4G phone and supports Citi MasterCard credit cards and a Google Prepaid Card.
