Community Leaders Gather In Queens To Denounce Gun Violence
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- Community leaders and shooting victims gathered at the Q6 bus stop at Rockaway and Sutphin Boulevards in Queens, to denounce gun violence on Saturday.
The gathering took place at the spot where D' Aja Robinson was killed on her way home from a sweet sixteen.
Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Council Member Ruben Wills, and Robert Mazyck the father of 11-year-old Tayloni Mazyck who was paralyzed in a recent shooting, were on hand for the event.
Tayloni was shot in the neck while she was standing outside of her Brooklyn building; her alleged shooter, Kane Cooper, 17, laughed when he was told that he had hit a child, according to the Brooklyn District Attorney.

Mazyck remained composed when speaking about his daughter's alleged shooter.
"I don't hate the guy," Mazyck said. "I just don't like that he'd bring a gun out in broad daylight," he said, speaking to CBS 2's Steve Langford shortly after the shooting.
Speaker Quinn and Council Member Wills also honored NYPD Department Chief and the NYPD for their roles in apprehending the suspects wanted in connection with the shootings.
The gathering occurred just hours after a young Bronx girl was shot in the stomach.
