CBS 2: Comedian Kevin Meaney Cleared In Alleged JFK Airport Assault
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Queens District Attorney will not prosecute comedian Kevin Meaney for allegedly assaulting a woman at John F. Kennedy International Airport, officials told CBS 2.
Port Authority Police had originally said the 58-year-old Meaney elbowed a 29-year-old woman in the chest for no apparent reason Tuesday evening inside Terminal 1.
Meaney, who lives in Manhattan, was arrested on assault charges, but as the investigation unfolded, authorities determined that the two simply bumped into each other, officials told CBS 2.
The woman complained of chest pain, but refused medical attention, police said. She later took off on a flight to Turkey, officials told CBS 2.
Meaney performed in "Hairspray, The Musical" on Broadway, starred in the 1990 television comedy series "Uncle Buck" and has appeared in other shows including "30 Rock," according to his IMDB page.
In 2002, Meaney was arrested at San Francisco International Airport for allegedly grabbing a National Guardsman's M-16 rifle after being accused of taking video of a security checkpoint, the New York Daily News reported.
