Mets Single-A Affiliate Unveils Glow-In-The-Dark Uniforms
COLUMBIA, S.C. (CBSNewYork) -- One of the Mets' Single-A affiliates has a new nickname -- the Fireflies -- and, fittingly, their uniforms will glow in the dark.
The Columbia Fireflies of the South Atlantic League unveiled their new jerseys and caps Wednesday.
The jerseys feature a glow-in-the-dark outline around the team's name and player's numbers, and the caps feature glowing logos.
The Fireflies aren't the first team to feature glow-in-the-dark hats. The Casper Ghosts, a rookie affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, did the same, beginning in 2008.
The Fireflies relocated for this coming season from Savannah, Georgia, where they were known as the Sand Gnats.
