Cold Weather Continues Into Christmas Weekend
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – The weather isn't warming up anytime soon and there's even a chance of snow for the Tri-State area this weekend.
Temperatures in the Tri-State Area are hovering around the mid-30s with wind chills dropping those temps into the 20s. Thursday's high was expected to reach 36—5 degrees below average—and the low at 31 degrees.
Thursday's clouds will move slowly out of the area as a cold front pushes west from the New England area, bringing light snow on parts of Long Island. The major roadways won't be affected.
Friday will be partly sunny and the breezes will continue with a high of 37 degrees and a low of 26, and Christmas day will have a high of 35 degrees and a low of 29.
Commuters and travelers will need to be aware of Sunday's chance of a possible snow in the area. A rain system in the South may continue going east with limited snow effects on Long Island by Sunday evening and into Monday morning.
