Clinton To Campaign With NY House Democrats
NEW YORK (AP) -- Former President Bill Clinton is lending his star power to a pair of New York House Democrats.
Clinton was scheduled to campaign in Binghamton on Monday for Congressman Maurice Hinchey, who represents the state's 22nd district. He was also headed to Syracuse, stumping for Rep. Dan Maffei in the 25th district.
Hinchey was seeking his tenth term and not considered vulnerable, but Maffei is in a tight race with Republican Ann Marie Buerkle, an anti-abortion activist who's been endorsed by Sarah Palin.
Democrats currently hold all but two of New York's 29 House seats. Republicans hope to pick up as many as eight seats in November.
Clinton is no stranger to New York politics. His wife, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, represented New York in the Senate for 7 years.
