Clinton Slimmed Down For Daughter's Wedding
RHINEBECK, N.Y. (CBS 2) -- After weeks of anticipation, the wedding of the year is getting underway in the town of Rhinebeck, N.Y., where Chelsea Clinton spent the day preparing to be walked down the aisle by her father, now looking a little bit slimmer than usual.
With a "no-fly zone" in effect, the former first family is trying to keep the A-list affair as private as possible.
Even so, a crowed of onlookers cheered the bride-to-be as she motored through the Dutchess County town on her big day.
The only other star sighting in town Saturday? Wedding guest Ted Danson.
"We looked overwhelmed, but it's only because of the cameras," the former Cheers star said. "We're very excited."
Somehow, few real details have leaked about the evening ceremony. Security is tight at Astor Courts, the expansive estate on the Hudson River owned by friends of the Clintons.
All day, trucks and cars headed up the long driveway. Caterers prepper for some 500 guests.
Rhinebeck town leaders, residents, and certainly merchants know that all this is the kind of publicity money can't buy – and they're taking advantage of their moment in the sun.
Salesman took to the streets, selling everything from lemonade to t-shirts.
While there was no sign of the former First Couple Saturday, Hillary Clinton did score style points the night before with her billowy turquoise gown as she flashed a sincere smile.
And Mr. Clinton, looking slim, said he's lost 20 pounds after giving up desserts and junk food. He said it was a request from Chelsea.
Anything for a daughter on her wedding day.
