Cliffside Park Man Accused Of Recording Girl, 13, In Shower
CLIFFSIDE PARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) -- A Cliffside Park, New Jersey man was charged this week with videotaping a 13-year-old girl in the shower.
Around 2:45 a.m. Monday, Cliffside Park police were called to the building where Anibal Garcia-Jerez, 29, lived, according to a police news release. Police learned that Garcia-Jerez had allegedly recorded videos and pictures of the girl when she was in the shower, the release said.
Garcia-Jerez allegedly accomplished his acts by accessing a concealed area that allowed a direct view into the shower in the next apartment over when opened, police said.
He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and invasion of privacy, as well as tampering with evidence for allegedly trying to delete the items from his phone, police said.
Judge Michael Shuhala set bail at $50,000 and Garcia-Jerez was being held in jail Tuesday, police said. Garcia-Jerez admitted to police that he is in the U.S, illegally, and immigration officials were notified, police said.
The investigation was ongoing late Tuesday pending a forensic examination of Garcia-Jerez's cellphone, police said.
