Citywide Street Closures Planned For Five Boro Bike Tour
NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) -- The city will be affected by a number of road closures on Sunday in support of the Five Boro Bike Tour.
Sections of the FDR Drive, the Brooklyn Queens Expressway, and the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will be affected. Road closures will be in effect from 6:30 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.
A full list of street closures is available through the city's website.
This year New Yorkers will use the Bike Tour as a chance to show solidarity with the city of Boston, which was rocked by a pair of bomb blasts during its annual marathon.
Tour riders were able to collect "I Ride for Boston" stickers at Bike Expo New York on May 3-4, 2013 with contributions of five dollars. All proceeds will go to The One Fund Boston.
"We've received an overwhelming response from our heavy-hearted riders who want to be able to express their solidarity with Boston," said Ken Podziba, president and CEO of Bike New York.
This year's event will see more stringent security in response to the attacks in Boston.
