Several Arrested Near City Hall While Protesting Transfer Of Homeless Residents Out Of Hotels
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- There were arrests near City Hall on Thursday at a protest over the transfer of homeless residents out of hotels and into congregate shelters.
Demonstrators from the Open Hearts Initiative sat on the pavement on Broadway and blocked traffic.
They say Mayor Bill de Blasio's decision to move homeless people back to shelters is putting them at risk as COVID cases rise.
Officers moved in and arrested several protesters on disorderly conduct charges.
