Citizens Union Director: De Blasio Aide Under Criticism, Rachel Noerdlinger, Is Obligated To Disclose Background
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) - Citizens Union Executive Director Dick Dadey says public officials, such as Rachel Noerdlinger, serve at the appointment of the mayor, but also serve the public-- and as such, are obligated to disclose their background and history under the law.
In September, the Patrolmen's Benevolent Association called for Noerdlinger, a top aide to New York City's First Lady, Chirlane McCray, to be removed from her position after being romantically tied to a criminal who has lashed out at cops on social media.
"If reports are true, that she did not completely and accurately complete the application and left out some very relevant and pertinent information, I mean that speaks to a level of not being honest and trustworthy and disclosing fully her background," Dadey told WCBS 880's Rich Lamb.

As WCBS 880's Monica Miller reported, Noerdlinger has been romantically linked to Hassaun McFarlan — a convicted murderer and interstate drug trafficker.
He also goes by Hassaun Ackles and has been arrested three times in the past five years, including a 2013 charge for eluding police in Edgewater, N.J., while operating Noerdlinger's vehicle, CBS 2's Tony Aiello reported.
DNAInfo.com reported the 36-year-old McFarlan also referred to cops as "pigs" on his Facebook account and nearly ran down a New Jersey police officer last year.
Dadey says it is very important for the Department of Investigation to complete a full investigation to determine what, if any, omissions may have violated the requirements of the law.
