Christmas Trees Across Manhattan Light Up In Anticipation Of Holiday Season
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The big tree at Rockefeller Center will be lit among the glittering traditions of the season in Midtown next week - but the Big Apple holds more than one Christmas tree lighting ceremony to kick off the holiday season.
The South Street Seaport will ring in the holiday season Friday, Nov. 25 with the 28th Annual Seaport Chorus Tree Lighting Spectacular.
TODAY Show personality and fashion expert Jill Martin will host the event. Darren Wallis Jazz Trio, the Soul Tigers Marching Band, The Big Apple Chorus, and Ronnie Spector will perform seasonal classics and photo opportunities with Santa Claus.

On Nov. 29, the Citi Pond at Bryant Park Christmas Tree Lighting will take place among caroling and more holiday festivities.
The following night, the star of the show, the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will light up. Stars like Justin Bieber and the Radio City Rockettes will be there to celebrate.
The traditional Park Avenue Memorial Trees will light up on Dec. 4. They've been lit up every year since 1945 as a tribute to American soldiers who lost their lives in all our wars.
Meanwhile, the Upper East Side boasts a Christmas tree of their own. The Carl Schurz Park Tree will be lit Dec. 4. Afterwards, the park's giant menorah will be presented by the Chabad of the Upper East Side KJ Beginners Program.
A downtown tradition since 1923, the New York Stock Exchange Christmas Tree will be lit on Dec. 6. This year's tree hails from Rockland County. Situated in front of the NYSE façade, the tree will be adorned with 3,300 white LED lights, 250 multi-colored balls with the NYSE Euronext logo and a 6' star on top.
