'Christmas Lights & Cannoli Tour' Returns To Brooklyn For 5th Year

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Kicking off this December is a New York City tradition which has been recognized internationally for combining two things this city does best: Christmas and food.
A Slice of Brooklyn, a company that hosts pizza tours of the borough, is combining Brooklyn's festive neighborhood and delicious Italian treats to put on the fifth annual "Christmas Lights and Cannolis Tour."

The highlights of the three-and-a-half-hour tour include a stop at one of Brooklyn's finest Italian pastry shops — where customers will be not only indulge in a delicious cannoli, but also warm up with hot cappuccino — and a tour of the festive Dyker Heights neighborhood.

Dyker Heights is famous for their Christmas lights and decorations, attracting more than 100,000 visitors every holiday season. The neighborhood was featured TLC's Crazy Christmas Lights and was the subject of the PBS documentary Dyker Lights.
Additionally, the tour has been seen on television programs all the way across the pond.
Founder and Brooklyn-native Tony Muia started A Slice of Brooklyn to show off all the pizzerias and landmarks in Brooklyn after people complained they couldn't find good pizza in Manhattan.
"Dyker Heights is the Italian-American section of Brooklyn where, since the 1980's, everyone in Brooklyn goes to see house after house of over-the-top Christmas decorations," Muia said. "We're talking animatronic and motorized displays, glowing nativity scenes, 30 foot toy wooden soldiers and more."
Similarly, Muia only has one thing to say to people who only think about Rockefeller Center to celebrate Christmas in New York—Fuhgettaboudit!
For those looking to get a taste of Brooklyn this holiday season, the tour will operate every night of the week during December.
