Christie Tapped For Obama's Trade Advisory Panel
TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- President Barack Obama has picked New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie to serve on a panel that advises the president on trade.
The Republican governor was appointed to the Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations, or ACTPN. He is the only governor picked for the 45-member panel so far out of the 30 appointments the president made on Wednesday.
Christie, a former federal prosecutor, says he's honored by the post. He says he'll share New Jersey's experiences while working to improve trade opportunities for the state and throughout the country.
Committee members serve two-year terms.
