Christie Stumping For Foley; Times Backs Malloy
GREENWICH, CT (AP / WCBS 880) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is expected in wealthy Greenwich to stump for fellow Republican Tom Foley in Connecticut's close governor's race.
Christie and Foley are scheduled to appear at the Greenwich Hyatt Hotel on Thursday evening before heading into a closed-door fundraiser.
Foley, a Greenwich businessman and former U.S. ambassador to Ireland, is locked in a tight race with Democratic former Stamford Mayor Dan Malloy for the post being vacated by Republican Gov. M. Jodi Rell, who's not seeking re-election.
The New York Times has endorsed Malloy this week.
Independent candidate Tom Marsh is also running.
Christie has been stumping for Republicans across the country after unseating a Democratic governor and closing an $11 billion state budget gap without raising taxes. Foley is also pledging not to raise taxes.
