Christie: Romney Will Turn Race 'Upside Down' At Wednesday Night's Presidential Debate
TRENTON, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - President Obama and Mitt Romney has been practicing and honing their attacks on each other, ahead of the first presidential debate scheduled for Wednesday.
Speaking on CBS' "Face The Nation," New Jersey Governor and Romney supporter Chris Christie said he thinks the debate could be a turning point for the Republican challenger.
"He's going to contrast what his view is with what the President's record is and the President's view for the future and this whole race is going to be turned upside down come Thursday morning," Christie told "Face The Nation" host Bob Schieffer.
Gov. Christie, who delivered the keynote address at the Republican National Convention, said Romney's experience as governor of Massachusetts gives him an advantage.
"Mitt Romney is the only candidate in this race who has a record of showing he knows as an executive how to forge bipartisan compromise," Christie said.
President Obama and Romney will face off a total of three times in debates. Christie said Romney has strong debate experience from his runs for senate and governor.
"We have a candidate who is going to do extraordinarily well Wednesday night, the first time he has the opportunity to stand on the same stage as the President of the United States and the first time a majority of the people who are going to vote in this race will have an opportunity to make that direct comparison,"
CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent and "Face The Nation" host Bob Schieffer will moderate the final debate between Obama and Romney on Monday, Oct. 22 from Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.
