Gov. Chris Christie Goes Live With 2016 Presidential Campaign Website
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- Just days after reports of an upcoming presidential campaign announcement, Gov. Chris Christie's political team has launched a campaign website for 2016.
The website -- Chrischristie.com -- shows the Republican governor's name along with the slogan "Telling it like it is.''
The verified Twitter account @ChrisChristie -- separate from his governor account -- also posted a gif that promotes the new campaign site.
The website says it's paid for by Chris Christie for President, Inc.
Donors and friends are receiving invitations to Christie's campaign announcement event planned for Tuesday at his former high school in Livingston, New Jersey.
Christie has been laying the groundwork for months. The governor considered a bid in 2012 before deciding to pass on a campaign.
He joins a field of more than a dozen major candidates for the GOP nomination. Once considered an early front-runner, Christie has yet to build momentum in the early days of the race.
Christie is likely to be one of four current governors in the 2016 race, joining Louisiana's Bobby Jindal, who announced his candidacy this week, and expected candidates Scott Walker of Wisconsin and John Kasich of Ohio.
