WATCH: Chris Weidman Split Open With Knee To The Head, Loses At UFC 205
It was a bloody homecoming for Chris Weidman as the former UFC Champion was defeated on Saturday night by Yoel Romero via TKO. Weidman, the Long Island native, was very much involved with helping the UFC bring fighting back to New York and would have loved a better outcome.
Romero (12-1 MMA, 8-0 UFC) added an eighth consecutive win to his undefeated UFC record by hitting Weidman (13-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) with a flying knee that instantly split his head open in the third round.
Romero then was pointed to look at the big screen as current Middleweight champion, Michael Bisping, gave him the thumbs down, then gave him the middle finger. The win practically made Romero the top contender to fight for the belt.
