Chris Canty To Giants Fans: 'Get Ready For A Parade On Tuesday'
INDIANAPOLIS (WFAN) -- The Giants are taking Tom Coughlin's mantra, "Talk is cheap, play the game," and throwing it out the window.
Safety Antrel Rolle said Monday that he expects New York to win Super Bowl XLVI against the New England Patriots. On Tuesday, Rolle said the Giants are "going to win this thing," but stopped short of making an official guarantee.
Enter defensive tackle Chris Canty.
When asked by a television reporter to send a message to Giants fans back home, Canty had the Canyon of Heroes on his mind.
"Get ready for a great game on Super Bowl Sunday," Canty said Wednesday. "And get ready for a parade on Tuesday."
Sound familiar? Patriots quarterback Tom Brady made headlines when he told fans "hopefully we'll have a lot more people at our party next weekend" at Sunday's send-off pep rally.
Canty wasn't concerned about handing bulletin-board fodder to New England.
"I don't care," said Canty. "Doesn't matter. Obviously, Tom Brady made a statement at their pep rally. Obviously, both teams are here to try to win a football game."
"He's our teammate," Giants cornerback Corey Webster said Thursday. "We're going to back him up regardless. Everybody puts this on their schedule at the beginning of the season. The goal is to be in the Super Bowl and win the Super Bowl. Nobody's showing up this weekend to lose the Super Bowl."
The Giants certainly have no crisis of confidence. According to Giants linebacker Mathias Kiwanuka, it's not just Rolle and Canty.
In the Big Blue locker room, it's "all in" or get out.
"I think we're going to win the game," Kiwanuka said. "You don't come out here and say we're going to go out there and give it our best. I believe every guy in that locker room thinks we're going to win the game. If they didn't believe that, they shouldn't be in the locker room."
