Chris Canty: Giants Have Confidence To Thwack The Pack
NEW YORK (WFAN) -- The last time the Giants faced the Packers, quarterback Aaron Rodgers shredded New York's defense for four touchdowns.
Well, that was then. This is now.
According to defensive lineman Chris Canty, six weeks means a world of difference for the Giants. That game could have easily turned in New York's favor, anyhow. Against the then-undefeated Packers, Canty & Co. were in it until a last-second Mason Crosby field goal put the game away.
If not for an apparent missed call on Jake Ballard's first-quarter non-touchdown catch, it could have been the Giants handing Green Bay their first loss.
"It was a close, hard fought football game," Canty told WFAN's Boomer & Carton on Thursday. "We had our opportunities but we didn't take advantage of them."

Don't look now, but Big Blue's defense has finally found their groove. Canty admitted he wasn't shocked that defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, in the heat of the moment, guaranteed victory over Green Bay after the Giants dismantled Atlanta on Sunday.
"I'm not surprised," said Canty. "At the end of the day, the confidence that he has -- and the confidence that this team has right now -- you know, we feel like that if we go and play our best football, we can beat anybody anywhere.
"So that's where we're at. We're not in the business of doing too much talking or making too many guarantees. We're gonna go out and play the game on Sunday and let our play do the talking."
It all comes down to confidence. And the Giants have good reason to believe, especially with their two weakest links this season -- the secondary and power running game -- back on track.
Not to mention that cornerback Aaron Ross, who had to leave last week's game against the Falcons with a head injury, was back at practice on Wednesday.
"It's like the old saying goes," he said, "whether you believe you can or you can't -- you're right."
