Chipper Jones Likely Out For Year With Knee Injury
(AP) Chipper Jones' agent says he'll need surgery on his injured left knee and is likely done for the season.
The Atlanta Braves third baseman had already said he would consider retirement at the end of the year, and he may have played his last game after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament Tuesday while fielding a ground ball at Houston.
His agent, BB Abbott, told The Associated Press on Thursday that Jones will definitely need surgery - most likely as soon as possible, which would end his season.
Jones came back from a disappointing start to hit .265 with 10 homers and 46 RBIs for the first-place Braves.
