Charges Upgraded For Woman Accused Of Killing Mother-In-Law In Rockland County
CLARKSTOWN, N.Y. (CBSNewYork/AP) -- The charge against a woman accused of killing her mother-in-law in Rockland County has been upgraded to first-degree murder.
Diana Nadell, of Cutler Bay, Fla., was arraigned Wednesday in Clarkstown Justice Court.
She pleaded not guilty to the murder charge and conspiracy. She was remanded to the Rockland County Jail, Clarkstown Police said.
According to the prosecutor, the murder-one charge was warranted because Nadell allegedly hired someone to help her with the attack on 80-year-old Peggy Nadell.
The alleged accomplice -- Andrea Benson, of Washington, D.C. -- is charged with second-degree murder and conspiracy.
Diana Nadell is accused of luring her mother-in-law to the door of her Valley Cottage home with a late-night call on Jan. 25. She and Benson allegedly killed her in an attempt to obtain part of her multimillion-dollar estate.
Two other women -- Tanisha Joyner, 26, and Eltia Grant, 24 -- are also charged with conspiracy in connection with the case.
Nadell is due back in court on July 14.
