'Change' Coming For NJ TRANSIT Customers
NEWARK, N.J. (CBSNewYork) - NJ TRANSIT has unveiled a change for change.
The transit agency has installed the first ticket machines that will dispense dollar bills instead of dollar coins for change at Newark Penn Station.
"I appreciate the coins but what happens is you're stuck with a lot of change," a NJ TRANSIT rider told WCBS 880's Levon Putney.

NJ TRANSIT Fare Collections Manager Frank Gorman said once the machine swap is complete, they will be the first transit system in the world to have ticket machines that give out paper money for change.
"Everybody likes their greenbacks," Gorman told Putney. "From day one, that was the number one complaint about ticket vending machines."
The transit agency has been conducting a test program of the new machines in Newark, Jersey City and New York City over the past year.
The machines will be able to dispense denominations up to $20 bills.
"However, it will accept $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100," Gorman told Putney.
Agency officials said all 674 machines in three states will be changed out by the end of the year.
