CBS 2, WCBS 880, 1010 WINS Among Those Chosen To Hold NYC Election Debates
NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) -- The Campaign Finance Board on Thursday selected CBS 2 and a diverse group of radio, newspaper, civic and college partners to host a series of debates during the 2013 campaign season.

Police practices, educating our kids and the best way to deliver a vast array of city services will all be fair game during Campaign 2013 and CBS 2 will be putting the candidates for public office to the test, hosting a series of in-depth debates this election year, CBS 2's Marcia Kramer reported.
"Debates are kind one of the best ways to see candidates at once, all at the same time, hear their answers to the same questions in real time," said Campaign Finance Board Executive Director Amy Loprest.
The board selected CBS 2, along with debate partners WCBS 880, 1010 WINS, El Diario/La Prensa, Common Cause and the City University to host a number of primary, runoff sand general election debates.
"We are especially proud and pleased at CBS 2, along with our partners," CBS 2 anchor Maurice DuBois said. "We're very excited to do this. This is obviously a momentous time in our city. The election obviously is a big deal and we want to get as much information out there."

In the mayoral race we will have:
* The Republican Primary debate
* The Democratic runoff debate
* A general election general mayoral debate
Other debates include:
* Comptroller and public advocate
The back and forth between the candidates will be broadcast in English on CBS 2 and by our radio partners and in Spanish on sister station WLYN-TV 10/55.
"In 100 years of history El Diario has always demonstrated a strong commitment to civic engagement and Democratic discussion, so we are absolute thrilled," El Diario/La Prensa Executive Director Eric Gonzalez said. "And in making sure that all New Yorkers, the diversity of New Yorkers are engaged in this discussion and learning more about candidates."
"What we've been doing is holding a series of town hall meetings to get ideas from our voters and our viewers and we've had some real interesting ones," DuBois said.
The Campaign Finance Board has administered debates in every city-wide election for the past 15 years. Our next town hall will be held on June 18 at Saint Francis College in Brooklyn.
