Casey's Call: Tuesday's Top 10

By Casey Keefe

1. Alabama (3-0): Mark Ingram returned with a bang, rushing for 151 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 9 carries in the Tide's 62-13 thrashing of Duke. They did have 3 turnovers, but you'll be able to overcome that anytime you post 630 yards of offense. A huge showdown in Little Rock awaits… This week: @ Arkansas (game of the year so far)

2. Boise State (2-0): Kellen Moore and company came out on fire after their week off and bounced Wyoming 51-6. It was the 16th straight win for Boise who outgained the Cowboys 648-135 in yardage. They'll need to be sharp this Saturday as they face their second biggest test of the entire season… This week: Oregon State

3. Ohio State (3-0): It was just another day at the office for the Buckeyes who pasted in state "rival" Ohio 43-7. Terrelle Pryor was sharp despite his 2 interceptions. State held the Bobcats to just 158 yards of total offense. They're great, but I can't wait until we get into Big 10 play to see what they're really made of… This week: Eastern Michigan

4. Oregon (3-0): Despite their lack of competition, the Ducks have been the most impressive team in the country west of Tuscaloosa. With their 69-0 win over Portland State, Oregon has now outscored their first 3 opponents 189-13. They look even better with the way transfer Jeremiah Masoli is struggling for Ole Miss… This week: @ Arizona State

5. TCU (3-0): The biggest thing you take away from the Horned Frogs 45-10 win over Baylor was their ability to shut down quarterback Robert Griffin. They zeroed in on Griffin and held the dual-threat to just 185 total yards. Ed Wesley stole the show on offense rushing for 165 yards and 2 scores… This week: @ SMU

6. Nebraska (3-0): Coming off a sloppy win a week ago, all eyes were on the 'Huskers to bounce back. They did so in a big way with their 56-21 bashing of Washington on the road. Nebraska posted 533 yards of offense, 287 of them by way of quarterback Taylor Martinez who also accounted for 4 touchdowns… This week: South Dakota State

7. Texas (3-0): The Longhorns were shaky on offense against Texas Tech turning the ball over 4 times, 3 due to Garrett Gilbert interceptions. But their defense showed up in a big way, holding Taylor Potts and Tech's offense to just 144 total yards. Texas wasn't sharp in the 24-14 win, but you can never take a victory in Lubbock for granted… This week: UCLA

8. Arkansas (3-0): The Razorbacks blew a 14 point 4th quarter lead at Georgia and needed Ryan Mallett to save the day. The Heisman candidate threw for 380 yards and 3 touchdowns, the last of which gave Arkansas a 31-24 win in Athens. Now they prepare for one of the biggest games in program history… This week: Alabama

9. Florida (3-0): The Gators struggles on offense continue. Once again I wasn't impressed with quarterback John Brantley who is very slow to make progress. The offensive line is also a mess, but thankfully for Urban Meyer he still has a capable defense. You can't take their 31-17 win at Tennessee for granted, but it left a lot to be desired… This week: Kentucky

10. Oklahoma (3-0): The Sooners weren't as sharp as I hoped in their 27-24 victory over Air Force. They struggled big time against the run, allowing 351 yards on the ground. But they found a way to win despite being dominated in yards gained and time of possession. I'm still waiting for them to take the next step as a team… This week: @ Cincinnati

We have a phenomenal slate of games on tap this weekend. It looks to be the best Saturday of the season to this point. Check back on Friday for my preview of all the best matchups.
